Try before you buy: a 3D and AR hat storefront that let shoppers see every hat on themselves before checkout.
Franky's is an Amsterdam premium hat brand selling direct to consumers in a category where fit and look decide everything, and where a customer cannot try the product through a screen. AtlanticWorks built Franky's a 3D and AR storefront on Shopify, with interactive 3D hat views and camera-based virtual try-on, so every shopper could see a hat from every angle and on their own head before adding it to cart.
Headwear lives and dies on look and fit, and online that is exactly what a shopper cannot judge. Flat product photos leave buyers guessing, which drives hesitation, lower conversion, and high return rates as customers order multiple hats to try at home.
Franky's wanted shoppers to experience a hat the way they would in a boutique, turning it in their hands and seeing it on themselves, without leaving the product page. They also wanted that rich visual experience to be discoverable, including in AI-powered search where product description matters.
We turned the product page into a try-before-you-buy experience built on three connected pieces.
Every hat was modelled as a high-fidelity 3D asset shoppers can rotate, zoom, and inspect from any angle, so the detail and shape come through the way they would in person. This is the core of a Shopify 3D product configurator built for ecommerce, not a static gallery.
WebAR lets shoppers see a hat on their own head straight from the browser, no app to install, which is the closest thing to trying it on in a shop. Our augmented reality shopping build keeps the experience on the product page where conversion happens.
We built the integration layer that turns 3D models into fast-loading, mobile-friendly experiences, so the richness does not cost page speed.
We structured product data and descriptions for Answer Engine Optimization, so Franky's hats surface clearly in AI-driven product discovery, not just traditional search.
By letting shoppers see and try hats before buying, Franky's replaced online hesitation with confidence. Conversions on 3D and AR product pages rose meaningfully, returns fell as customers knew what they were getting, and the richer, well-structured product experience earned visibility in both traditional and AI-powered search. The store now sells the way the brand does in person.
